Shaping the Diagnosis
Studies have shown that breast MRI is a cost-effective cancer screening modality for high-risk patients that has higher sensitivity than mammography. MRI results, however, aren't always ideal. Often MRI produces low specificity and generates a large number of images to review. Moreover, recent published results of screening studies have found that MRI missed up to 29% of the cancers.
ONCAD™'s fractal mathematics and proprietary algorithms directly address these issues. Analyzing MR results with morphology, ONCAD™ highlights regions with suspicious margins.
Because ONCAD™ provides clinicians with more visual information, they are able to detect suspicious lesions otherwise imperceptible to the human eye and ultimately make a better diagnosis.
ONCAD™ is the first FDA-cleared, morphology- and kinetic-based CAD system designed for contrast-enhanced MR. It also satisfies the recent American College of Radiology recommendation for radiologists to perform breast evaluations using both kinetic and morphologic assessment.
