Alan I. Penn, PhD

Founder & President

With one patent to his name and several others pending, Dr. Penn led the development of the algorithms behind ONCAD™. He received his PhD in mathematics from the University of Maryland and is currently an adjunct assistant professor of radiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He also sits on the board of directors of Penn Diagnostics.

James N. Heller, MBA

Board Chair

After earning his master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School, Mr. Heller founded and successfully developed several small businesses. His experience includes service as executive vice president and director in a large, publicly traded consulting firm.

Dina Blumwest, MS, MBA

Vice President, Clinical Market Development

Ms. Blumwest brings to the company her experience as a Principal Advisor for the National Institute of Health SBIR commercialization program, as well as 15 years of experience with Fortune 100 healthcare companies, including Merck, in the areas of market development, business strategy, finance, and hospital sales. She received her MBA from the College of William and Mary.

Scott Thompson, PhD

Vice President, Research and Development

Dr. Thompson brings more than 15 years of computer applications development and medical informatics experience to Penn Diagnostics. His professional focus is on medical image understanding, artificial intelligence, and software architecture. Dr. Thompson has a PhD in computer science from the University of Maryland.

Rachel Brem, MD

Medical Advisor

Dr. Brem is the director of the Breast Imaging and Interventional Center at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC, where she is also a professor of radiology and vice chair for research and faculty development.
She obtained her MD at Columbia University and is currently a member of Penn Diagnostics' board of directors.

Kathryn Penn

Director, Compliance and Network Security

Ms. Penn’s work in systems at the University of Michigan as well as the University of Maryland aptly suits her role as the Compliance and Network Security Director. Ms. Penn received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.
